Generative AI in AEC
I think a point that is somewhat underappreciated today is the impact that generative AI image generation models will have once they are integrated into the tools of AEC (Architecture, Engineering, and Construction) and other heavily visual industries. Here is a quick fun experiment with a tool called Gendo. I built this woodshed over the summer (the last image is the real photograph.) Using Gendo, I then created a handful of alternative renders. I would have never thought of using brick but I think it looks pretty good in the render. Once you play with it a bit, it’s hard to imagine ever thinking about designing a physical object without the ability to quickly visualize a number of alternatives.
